ATTRACTING GOD’S FULL REWARD
By Ps Henry Mugisha
2Jn 1:8 “Watch out that you do not lose what you
have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully”
This scripture means you can actually lose what you have worked
for,. You need to remember that a good name is better than gold. The
relationships you have with people are worth nurturing. However I want to
stress the relationship with God.
God is a rewarder as we know from his promises in scriptures.
Remember, there is a partial reward scenario, a full reward scenario and a no
reward scenario according to that verse.
1. PARTIAL
REWARDS
He COULD NOT DO any miracles there, except lay his
hands on a few sick people and heal them (Mark 6:5)
The word ‘would’ has to do with self-will part the word ‘could’
has to do with an external constraint. Jesus was constrained because of their
unbelief, dishonor and offense (See Verse 3,4, 6). God will always bring for
you what you need in a package that you do not want. You can miss what God
wants for you because of dishonor. You end up receiving partial rewards.
Dishonor means to treat common or ordinary. To give little or no respect at
all. Honour can be reflected in our actions, thoughts, words but above all in
our heart
2.
NO REWARD
A scenario of no reward happened in
Luke 5:17-24. The Pharisees were full of jealousy, disrespect and dishonor in
their hearts. They experienced no reward at all though the power of the Lord
was present to heal, yet other people with faith were healed.
3.
FULL REWARD
In contrast to the Pharisees, a
roman centurion, highly esteemed and respected humbles himself and highly
regards Jesus giving him absolute honor saying, “The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not
deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant
will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers
under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he
comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this,
he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I
have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith (Mt 8:8-10)
Jesus
granted the centurion’s request. Another
instance is shown in Mark 7: 27-29 with a woman whom Jesus literary called a
dog yet she humbled herself. Where there is honor the miraculous begin to
happen. Authorities to honour include;
1.
Government
authorities (1 Pe 2:17, Rom 13:1).
2.
Church
authorities (1 Th 5:13)
3.
Social leaders
(1 Ti 6:1)
4.
Family
authorities
