John answered, saying to all, ¨I indeed baptize you with water;
but One mightier than I…will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. _Luke 3:16
…Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one
sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit… _Acts 2:1-4
For every
Christian and disciple of Christ, the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire is a
must and of most importance. The fire opens more deeply to our hearts the Word
of God and keeps us from becoming mundane. I don’t want to do or go anywhere
without the fire of the Holy Spirit.
And they said to one another, ¨Did not our heart burn within us
while He talked with us on the road and while He opened the Scriptures to us? _Luke 24:32
Fire is
mentioned in many other sections of the Bible. Hebrews 12:28-29, Jeremiah 20:9
It seems to
me, a lot of things in the natural really show what things are like in the
spirit, where our life really matters;
1. Fire is
used to cook.
…are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory,… _2 Corinthians 3:18
Fire changes
what it cooks, and this fire in me does away with my flesh, softens my heart
and no longer am I stiff-necked. There is an aroma that comes with me under
this fire; this aroma changes the very atmosphere around me.
2. Fire is
used to keep warm.
Too much
cold upon a man kills him, and so much more the cold upon the spirit of a man. Hebrews 1:7, Ecclesiastes 4:11. Fire of the Spirit keeps us aflame and hot for
the things of God.
Fire also
brings light along with it, 1 Thessalonians 5:5. It is used to
burn up things as well. Fire binds
things together, more especially plastics.
When
believers come together in fellowship, there is a fire that springs up between
them. This fire binds us together in love. If we all are of the Spirit of God, there
is a burning in us.
The fire of
the Holy Spirit burns up all the rubbish of our fears, confusion, frustration…and
places the peace of God in our lives. Let Him have His work in your life, in
your heart.
