Blessed to Bless to be Blessed

By Pastor Dennis Odoi

Jeremiah 29:7_And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

Proverbs 11:25_The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.

Job 42:10_And the Lord restored Job´s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Genesis 24:27_And he said, ¨Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master´s brethren.¨

When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his losses and gave him twice as much as he had before. By praying for them, Job blessed his 3 friends by asking for the Lord´s pardon from their offense against Him. So the Lord restored and blessed Job even more and twice than He had blessed him before all the adversity that He had brought upon him.

The affair of finding a wife for Isaac by Abraham´s oldest servant was one of divine leading. The servant sets out to the land of Abraham´s people without knowing who he was going to or even which family he was going but he sets out all the same; and being on the way, the Lord led him. We, even in our lives and families and work, have to set out. You take a step and be on the way, the Lord will lead you and He promises never to leave you.

1st Chronicles 22:16_Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you.¨

Let us arise and begin working, and the Lord be with us. Let us arise and go out with what we have and where we are for the Lord shall bless where we work.

How to condition ourselves to be a blessing;
  1. Daily reading of the Word. We must read the Word of God systematically.
  2. Prayer. What makes us who we are is how long we remain in the presence of God.
  3. Spiritual retreats. Where we go away for a while and refresh.
  4. Having spiritual companions. These companions will speak into your life and encourage you, even as you do the same.
  5. Spiritual disciplines/values/principals/personal practices. An example of these is integrity, sexual purity, commitment. Many people truly committed to God have fallen because of a lack of principles and values.
