Acts
20:35_I
have shown you in every way, by labouring like this, that you must support the
weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more
blessed to give than to receive.’”
When
we give, we are rewarded and blessed and if we don’t give, we cannot expect to
obtain the fullness of what God has for us. One sure way of becoming bored and
complacent is allowing inconsistencies or even stopping to tithe and giving
offering.
The
orphan spirit causes a man to think that he has to keep and increase whatever
he gets instead of giving. The book of Acts shows a group of disciples that
believed in giving all (100%) of what they had; or at least a readiness to give
all when required to.
Matthew
25:32-46_And
He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the
King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father,…
From
this parable of the sheep and goats, the sheep are the ones that gave and fed
and clothed the least of men, not the ones that only went to church frequently
or only prayed better than most. The power of giving and receiving is portrayed
therein.
The
essence of the gospel is Christ, it is Love…looking to the people around us.
We
are Jesus’ hands and feet. Let us be the ones that are always giving, giving
and giving again. To always be a getter is to rob oneself of one’s destiny. God
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit has come and made His home in us and
this makes us the answer to the world’s (people’s) questions. We should seek to
make an impact in people’s lives.
James
4:1-3_They
come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside
yourselves. You lust for what you don’t have and are willing to kill to get it.
When we give, we give in faith.
