Are you a member of VCC? Check out what we expect of you?
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ,
Every successful company has a set polices and procedures within the framework of its structure. These polices and procedures clearly define what the company requires of it’s employees as well as what the employee can expect from the company.
In addition to its policies and procedures a successful company also has a vision and a mission tied to its purpose.
Every church should also have such things in place. In spiritual terms we call this discipleship and accountability.
Both discipleship and accountability help fulfill the church’s biblical mandate to be obedient to Christ in all areas of scripture.
For example, if your living in sin in a particular area. The bible gives us clear instructions on how to handle such a situation.
Matthew 18:15-17
“Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that “by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
But suppose the issue is different and may not require such intervention yet still requires discipleship (guiding and accountability). Say the issue has to do with tithing or speaking in tongues, do you know what the church believes on these issues? Do you know what type of biblical accountability VCC adheres to on such issues?
What about issues concerning our vision (and our interpretation of scripture on these issues) like: worship, small groups, ministry, missions and even discipleship.
Our Elevate class addresses many of these issues and helps each member of VCC understand clearly the vision of our church.
We have emphasized over and over again the importance of attending this class. Everyone who considers VCC their home church must complete this class.
Since some may have missed out how important this class is we are giving everyone another opportunity to join the class. Yet, if by the end of March someone has not attended the Elevate class they can no longer be in public ministry in this church.
No person will be allowed to sing in the choir, play an instrument, preach, teach, prophesy, pray publically, or minister in any other public ministry without having finished the class. The only exception to this is when we have visiting guests or ministers.
Does this sound harsh? We hope it sounds biblical to you. Jesus said no man who does not pick his cross and follow Him is worthy to be His disciple. For us at VCC it’s a new season of rising up as a family to pick up our cross and follow Christ. We want to be the church He intends us to be. This cannot happen if we are not in unity about what the bible says as well as understanding the vision of this house, in this hour, at this time. Won’t you join us as we do this together!
