They demonstrate that God’s law is written
in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or
tell them they are doing right. _Romans
2:15
Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than
our feelings, and He knows everything. _1
John 3:20-21
Let us
consider two trees that grow up side by side, one great and lush and the other
thin and weak. What we see of the trees is a result of what they are on the
inside, their nature, their kind and their characteristics. So do I liken these
unto men that likewise live from the inside out. It is the things that flow
from within me that make me who I am and not those things that I let in.
This is
the power of a clear conscience; that when I attain it, nothing can stop me
from the things I aim for.
…cling to your faith in Christ, and keep
your conscience clear… _1 Timothy
1:18-19
...that all believers would be filled with
love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. _1 Timothy 1:5
A clear
conscience is one without condemnation. Living religiously brings condemnation.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor
life…shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus… _Romans 8:38-39
Assurance
of God’s love for us takes place in our heart and our conscience is then clear
from fear and condemnation, and not spotted with doubt or unbelief. When I keep
my eyes fixed on my circumstances at any one point in my life, my conscience is
tainted and unclear because of this until God’s love is perfected in me; as I
love others around me.
No one has seen God. But if we love each
other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us. _1 John 4:12
Plainly
stated, if I do not love others, God does not abide in me. So even though my
conscience wars against me, it is purified by the blood of Christ. Titus
1:15, Hebrews 9:14
There’s
a song by a one Matthew West titled ‘My
own little world’ that am reminded of that has a line that goes ‘Father, put Your light in my eyes and let me
see that my own little world is not about me’. Every day I must come to the
realization that I am not about me, if Christ truly lives His life through me,
I get out of myself and love people.
I must
be positioned to love people around me; by praying for them, healing those that
are sick, shining the light to those that are oppressed, letting the Holy
Spirit speak to them through me, and always completing the cycle because I am
confident, that I am loved of God.
