Watch, Pray and Stand

By Pastor Darryl Woodson

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night,…_Isaiah 62:6

Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is._Mark 13:33

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation._Matthew 26:41

The watchmen that the Lord put on Jerusalem´s walls never kept silent praying for the people. And in this day, these are the Lord´s praying people that never give Him rest until He establishes what He promised. Lord, teach me how to watch and pray aright, for the end of days is near and this is my desire to be found ready, praying.

When the Lamb opens the fifth and the sixth seals in Revelation 6:9-11 and 12-17, the great day of the wrath of the Lamb is arrived and is upon men on the earth.

´And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;…´_Acts 2:17-20

Yet interestingly, this day is a great one for those on whom the Holy Spirit is poured out but a dreadful day for the men that do not believe in Jesus Christ. Even upon us that are watching and praying and will be found the same, it is a great day indeed!  Luke 21:34-36

A Christian that is watching and praying is one that is unshakable. Hebrews 12:26-27. Oh that the Lord forever remain the Rock on which my, and every Christian´s foundation is built! For this is the man that is unshakable and stands. For an example, John the Baptist was unshakable, Matthew 11:7-12, a humble and repentant heart.

I learn that to be an unshakable Christian is to remain in constant fellowship with God, to continually minister to the Lord.

  • Watch, and keep my eyes on the Lord Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We watch with prayer, so let us not be anxious for anything but continue in prayer always.

  • Pray, with all manner of thanksgiving. Halleluyah! How great it is to enter the gates and courts of the great King with praise and giving of thanks in our hearts!

  • Stand, after all is done. …and having done all, to stand._Ephesians 6:13
What are you and I to do now that we are exhorted to be aware even more of the times in which we are living, to live circumspectly (watchfully and cautiously) and to be ready at all times?
