Who told you - you were not anointed?

By Pastor Darryl Woodson

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. – 1st John 2:20

…the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies… - Romans 8:11

The context in which this portion of Scripture is written is in the last days when many antichrists come. And I know that because of this precious anointing that I have received from the Holy One, I am kept in the Truth and from falling away. This anointing makes me able to know all things, and also how to do. It is God who gives wholly of His Spirit so it´s not like someone else is any more anointed than I am.

So who told me I was not anointed?
  • The voice of the flesh (self) that said I had to work for the anointing before it would given. I am anointed because I believe and the Spirit of God lives in me, so when Jesus says ´go´, I go because He says and has given me the power (Holy Spirit) to go and do.
  • The voice of the enemy who tries to put doubt in my mind about the Word of God and snatch it from me. This reminds me of Eve who being asked by the serpent, ´´Has God indeed said…? ´´ fell prey to the evil one and she was deceived.
  • The voice of others and me listening to what they say around and about me. Sometimes people will try to tell us that we are not anointed. Even as was with Job and his 3 friends, they spoke and discouraged and accused him, yet he truly was a righteous man.
But He is able to keep me and you from stumbling, and this clear understanding that I am His is by continually watching in prayer and continually abiding in the Word.

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you,…and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. – 1st John 2:27

Jesus speaks to His disciples and says that they would do greater works than He did, and when He reads from the book of the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 61:1-2), He is declaring saying:

´´The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me…
·         To preach the gospel to the poor;
·         He is sent to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives… - Luke 4:17-19

And if He, Jesus Christ has sent me out to do greater works than He did here on earth, then I know I have been anointed with the same anointing, given the same power that raised Him from the dead, and I am anointed because He wills and not by anyway could I attain it. Where does this put us, what are you and I to do about this?
